Yes, on every job that requires one. Skipping permits voids your homeowner's insurance and can prevent you from selling the house. We do it right — even when it costs us a day.

How fast can you actually get here?

Central Charlotte: 60 minutes during business hours. Outer suburbs: 75-90 minutes. After-hours emergencies dispatch within 90 minutes typically. We text live ETA.

Will you try to upsell me?

No. We make money on real work, not on parts. If your problem is a $185 fix, you get a $185 fix. We don't push panel upgrades on people who don't need them.

What warranty do you offer?

12 months workmanship on all repairs. Lifetime on all new fixture installs (Liberty parts + labor). All manufacturer warranties pass through to you.

The Liberty Electric story

Jamal Brooks started Liberty Electric in 2005 after a decade as a master electrician with one of Charlotte's biggest national chains. He got tired of watching homeowners get hit with $2k bills for $200 problems — and watching less-experienced helpers being sent on jobs that needed a master. So he started Liberty with three rules: every emergency call gets a master electrician (not a helper), every quote is in writing before any work, and the owner answers the phone. Today we're 10 strong, with 4 NC Master Electricians on staff. We are the company you call when your panel is smoking at 9pm.
