When to clean your Seattle gutters (and what happens if you don't)

By Ben Holloway · April 20, 2026 · 3 min read

Seattle gutters fill fast. Conifer needles, leaves, moss, debris from neighboring trees — all of it ends up in your gutter system. Skipping cleanings has real costs.

The right schedule

Most Seattle homes need 2 gutter cleanings per year: spring (clear winter debris) and late fall (after leaf-drop). Homes with significant tree coverage may need a 3rd in mid-summer.

What happens when you skip

Year 1 skip: clogged downspouts cause water overflow during rain → wet fascia and siding.

Year 2 skip: rotting fascia → ice damming in winter (yes, Seattle can get ice damming in unusual cold snaps) → water in walls.

Year 3 skip: fascia rot, sometimes structural roof issues, sometimes basement seepage from improper drainage.

What it costs to skip

Annual gutter cleaning: $185-295.

Fascia repair: $800-2,400 typical Seattle home.

Siding replacement: $5,000+ for affected sections.

Roof damage from improper drainage: $3,000-12,000.

What we include

Hand-clear every gutter section. Flush downspouts. Photo any damage found. Test drainage with hose. Report on overall condition.

Skipping gutter cleaning is one of the most expensive ways to save $200/year.
